Official Education - Evaluator Course

Each World Aquatics Certified Evaluator shall, to the best of their judgment, determine how accurately a judge scores routines and figures according to the criteria set forth in the World Aquatics Handbook. Additional factors to be considered in judge evaluations include:
  • Use of the score range
  • Independence of opinion
  • Level of concentration
  • Evidence of bias
  • Promptness in arriving at meetings/events and delivery of scores
  • Ability to make decisions and contribute to discussions
  • Professional attitude/behaviour and compliance with the appropriate dress code
  • Always demonstrate fair play
  • Positive attitude
  • Display of ethical values
  1. Evaluators are expected to lead all judge meetings to set the World Aquatics standard of excellence during the competition.
  2. All meetings are to be conducted in English.
  3. Evaluators should be seated on the deck or on the judges’ platform during the routine events. During figure competitions the Evaluator(s) may need to circulate among the panels during the course of the even
  4. Evaluators unofficially judge every session to compare their scores with those of the judges being evaluated.
  5. Evaluators host Judge debrief meetings for the purpose of judge education and accountability at the conclusion of each session if appropriate, and/or following finals.
  6. Evaluators must ensure they have the email addresses of all the judges at the competition and that all the judges have his/her email.
  7. The completed individual evaluations and all accompanying documents shall be sent to the World Aquatics Office.
  8. A non-detailed report providing the overall evaluation % rating and overall bias rating per judge is to be sent to the relevant Continental Data Base Manager(s) by the World Aquatics Office. This report is generated by the Evaluator, but it is the World Aquatics Office who is responsible to distribute it. Federations may request a non-detailed report from the World Aquatics Office, but not from the Evaluator.
  9. Evaluators are to retain a copy of each completed evaluation form and all supplemental documentation for a period of 1 year.
  10. For World Aquatics judges: the Evaluator will submit the reports for the World Aquatics judges to the World Aquatics office regardless of whether it was a World Aquatics competition or not.
